META INTEGRATION ANNOUNCES VERSION 2.4.2 OF ITS DATA AND METADATA MOVEMENT SOLUTIONS WITH SUPPORT FOR THE NEW RATIONAL ROSE DATA MODELER, POPKIN SYSTEM ARCHITECT, AND XML BASED METADATA STANDARDS FROM THE META DATA COALITION AND THE OBJECT MANAGEMENT GROUP.

LOS ALTOS, California, March 31^st, 2000 – Meta Integration Technology, Inc. (MITI), a leading provider of data and metadata movement tools, announces version 2.4.2 of its entire product line including Meta Integration™ Works (MIW), and Model Bridge (MIMB).

In today’s perpetual evolution of information technology, it is mission critical for every corporate enterprise to be armed with effective solutions for the replacement and/or deployment of new business applications: business data will outlive the software tools used to create or update them! As corporate data is everywhere and underneath any and all various enterprise software, several key data movements need to be implemented before any new system can become operational. Such data movements include legacy data migration, data integration of new applications with other enterprise applications, as well as data updates to the corporate data warehouse and enterprise information portals. MITI provides corporations, system integrators, and software vendors with a complete, open, and universal data movement solution for the total data integration of new software applications.

Meta Integration™ Works (MIW) is at the heart of MITI’s data movement solution. MIW integrates well with today’s best practices in software development, as it provides a unique component based approach to the Data Extraction, Transformation, & Load (ETL) tool market. Indeed, the MIW development environment generates C++ based data movement components that can be easily integrated (plug & play) with any Windows or Unix based business applications. Multiple data movement components can be produced for various purposes such as Legacy Data Migration (LDM for internal version upgrade as well as from a competing application), Enterprise Application Integration (EAI), or Data Warehousing (DW). The code of the produced data movement components can be reviewed through any Quality Assurance (QA) processes, and does not depend on any middleware (free of any run-time cost at deployment time). MIW includes some very sophisticated features such as the Model Comparator, the Model Integrator, and the Model Mapper utilities that have been designed to support the perpetual changes in the source and destination data stores. Indeed, one of the key features of MIW is the built-in support for change management facilitating the maintenance and/or generation of new versions of the data movement components as needed. Data Connectors are available for most popular databases, as well as for XML data sources to service the expanding needs in the fields of Internet Application Integration (IAI), Enterprise Information Portals (EIP), and Electronic Data Interchange (EDI). MITI will be present at HIMSS 2000 conference (April 9-13, Dallas, TX) to demonstrate XML based data movements on a prototype ESRD application for HCFA using the new HL7 v.3 standard.

The need for data movement and data integration solutions is driven by the fact that data is everywhere underneath business applications. The same applies for metadata: metadata is also everywhere underneath the software and database development tools, as well as within the repositories delivered with the Data Warehousing (DW), and Enterprise Application Integration (EAI) environments. The Meta Integration™ Model Bridge (MIMB) represents MITI’s metadata movement solution. With over 20 bridges, MIMB is the most complete metadata movement solution on the market. This latest release includes support for additional modeling tools such as Popkin System Architect, and the recently announced Rational Rose Data Modeler. This latest version also includes a more complete and updated support for the latest XML based metadata standards, including:

• The Meta Data Coalition (MDC) XML based on the Open Information Model (OIM) as supported by the Microsoft Repository v3, and other products from the MDC Advance Guard group.
• The Object Management Group (OMG) XML Metadata Interchange (XMI) as supported by the Unisys Universal Repository (UREP), and other products from the members of the OMG Analysis & Design Group such as IBM and Oracle.
